Does artificial grass burn dogs’ paws?

K9Grass® puppy turf is different from typical artificial grass products because our turf does not hold in heat, and heat dissipates immediately once under shade. Our infill-free design greatly reduces heat buildup typical of other artificial grass for dogs and puppies. However, no puppy turf stays as cool as natural grass, which has water running through it, but does not absorb and radiate heat like pavement, rock, or brick. If you are concerned about your puppy’s or dog’s paws getting too hot, we recommend making sure there’s a shaded area for them to retreat.

It’s important to note that any surface – puppy turf included – that isn’t alive, like grass, a plant, etc., will get hot, and pet parents should always be wary of the heat of a surface before allowing their dogs to walk on it.  Surfaces like sand, concrete, etc., will continue to hold the heat even in the presence of shade.

There is a difference in puppy turf products, however, and choosing cheap alternatives can lead to issues with your pets beyond just burning of their paws. High-performance turf like K9Grass® will minimize any risk of your puppy’s and dog’s paws from burning, but there is no product that can guarantee the same performance of natural grass. We recommend researching our products and solutions to see how K9Grass® outperforms all others.
